My aim was to create a chair with a small footprint that was easy to produce and had a calm and welcoming presence. To get started, I sat in various old chairs around the shop and observed both visually and physically what was needed and what was not. The first thing I discovered was that the chairs making contact on the lower back were comfortable for me as well as my peers. I also noticed that most chairs that I had around were unnecessarily deep and wide in the seat. I wanted to strip my chair down to the core without sacrificing any comfort. Also, I wanted the chair to have an attractive posture and unpretentious form.
